a conversation with a male friend yesterday:

guy: do you want to get married someday?

me (hesitantly): yeah, a husband and kids have always been part of my dream life.

guy: i just can't imagine finding a woman who makes me want to be with only her for the rest of my life.

me: well, yeah, i mean, i want to find that guy someday.

(pause)

but i also want a flying car.

OW.

the rough part of dating a boy who is into sports is that when you ask him to teach you how to tackle, he doesn't mess around. i managed to wrench my back (i think i was kicking his ass so hard that i hurt even myself; i don't think he's buying it.) it's tightened up so much at this point that i can't turn from the waist at all, making it impossible to back up my car or wipe my own ass. on the bright side, i caught some great passes (the boy says i have great hands; if i only had a name for every guy who'd said that to me...) and am getting tougher all the time on the tackling, which i feel is a usefull skill both on and off the field.

the nice part about dating a boy who is into sports is that when he takes you on a sports date, he doesn't mess around, either. i'm still glowing after he took me to the kings/stars game last week, calling in a favor to get $85 seats (for free) close to the ice. and he bought me a hot dog. blood and sweat hitting you in the face + meat products = coolest date of my young life.
