there's no crying in baseball!

i'm a complete wreck. i just finished titanic, which i haven't seen for years, and i'm literally sobbing by the end - not crying, gut emitting huge, ugly, wracking sobs. oh god. don't you see? i'm not this cool chick who likes sports. i'm this pathetic girly thing who weeps at the ending of titanic. ugh. i'm such a poser.

the programming might be gay, but i love espn2 commercials.

how do you two stay in synch? and i don't mean *n'sync*, i mean "in synch"

oh no. this is what the male sports announcer just said of the 13-year-old pairs team on the jump rope competition:

"interesting... one girl is considerably bigger than the other, and yet they still find a way to stay synchronized."

did we run out of old football games?

if i stay up for 30 minutes i will be rewarded with the 1993 national double dutch championships. i love espn2. i hope that's the year when new mexico had that tense overtime victory after the girl from the jersey team got her ankle wrapped up in the jump rope.

here's the thing: obviously espn does not have enough material to fill this extra channel 24/7, but they went out on a limb and did it anyway. i have a lot of respect for the guy who, when they were tossing around the idea of a second channel, said, "yeah, boss, i know we don't have enough 'major sports' programming, but we'll just fill in the holes with the 1987 chicago regional bacci ball finals."

...
palmer strikes a pose

now let's talk about what's really important:

three months ago they said he was a joke who threw as many interceptions as touchdowns; two months ago they said he wouldn't even get an invitation to the ceremony; one month ago they said he might deserve it, but he would never get it. yet carson palmer won the heisman trophy tonight; he absolutely dominated a competition everyone said would be close, taking five of the six regions. it's a proud, proud day to be a trojan.

one thing though: of the five heisman candidates, why is our boy the only one sitting there with his mouth open the whole time? can someone teach it to breathe through its nose*?

also, pedro papadakis, the big sc broadcaster on the fox socal sports report, had this to say of carson after taking credit for the qb's media savvy:

"i won't be responsible for that hair. everyone in l.a. is gonna be workin' the comb-over bangs look for the next month, and that is not good."
