i am a sports goddess. today after class i went to lunch with a couple of kids from my program and this cute boy i don't really know mentions that his parents are flying in from florida for parents' weekend. he adds that it's a bummer for his dad, though, because the guy is a miami alum and that there's a big game he's going to have to miss. i blurt out, "yeah, the fsu game!" the guy stops dead in his tracks and turns a gaze upon me that can only be described as worshipful. he proceeds to make several attempts to continue in his train of thought, but he's obviously lost it in his daze and instead keeps turning to me and muttering, "wow, you're totally on football!" or "that's so great!" i know as a girl i should be offended that he was so surprised that i could wrap my puny feminine little mind around the enigma that is ncaa football, but no, i just felt like a badass.

think it's no coincidence that he asked for my phone number at the end of that conversation. i rock.

i just saw the most disturbing thing on tv. it was a commercial for a school for blind children (that alone gives me the chills... all those kids who can't see) and the spokesperson was that creepy short old lady with the weird voice from the poltergeist films. does that really seem like the right thing to anybody?
