andare in italia, o non andare li? quest'e' la domanda. grrr. non so cosa fare.
enough of the random italian. although i did see a movie this week in which the main female character always used latin phrases because that was her major - random latin phrases. and i thought, hey, i'm an italian major, and if i don't start using it with the obvious and annoying intent of trying to impress people, then what the hell else am i going to do with it? get a job? HA!

spunky halloween party picture at left. can't you just feel the fun oozing out? man that was a good night. i'll keep the picture up for a bit, i want the folks who missed out (including, literally, my folks) to be able to have a glimpse of the holiday festivities. and so they can admire my adorable costume, thanks to my new friend michele (who doesn't read this but deserves a shout-out [like she's my homegirl] nevertheless.)
this week has been so huge, which is why i haven't been blogging, but how ever to blog it all now? maybe if i go back in time (like the huge hit for talented 80s band huey lewis and the news, as seen in back to the future) i can cover all the big points.
sunday: a bust. groceries and schoolwork, really, and that's all. i'm growing to hate sundays.
saturday night: saw the best film i've seen since "the mummy returns": "amelie", an adorable, clever, whimsical, fanciful story of a young french girl (it's in french, which is great, with subtitles) who has a secret gift for helping others, and her quest for love. i haven't laughed so hard at a movie in a long time, nor can i remember having left the theatre feeling so happy in many moons. all i can say is go see it, or you're really missing out.
saturday day: here is an interesting phenomenon - homecoming at my school, the university of southern california. the school invites all of the fraternities and sororities, as well as a number of other student organizations (including helenes, a women's service organization of which i am a member) to line trousdale (our main walkway through campus) with booths serving food and copious amounts of alcohol. then thousands of students and alums flood the area and proceed to get astoundingly drunk. the game starts at 12:30, so we start at 9:30. so you're standing there by 10:30, ridiculously inebriated with all of your friends, but you're in the middle of campus. and it's the morning! it's a ludicrous concept but it's also one of my favorite days of the year. my personal tradition after three years has been to make sure i use the restroom in taper hall of humanities, a building where i have had class every semester since i was a freshman. there's something really special about being able to say, "i have class in here every day, and i'm totally drunk!" i know, it's trashy, but it's tradition.
there is a horrible side effect, however, that i seem to forget every year. when you party at night, you take for granted the fact that you sleep off a lot of your drunkenness. however, when you are sloshed around noon, you have to spend a good chunk of your day waiting for that feeling to wear itself out. i spent hours on saturday sitting around, knowing i had homework to do, trying to waste time until i felt sober enough to do it. ridiculous.
uh oh kiddies, looks like it's time for me to hitch up them wagons and ride off into my english class. it's in taper. i was totally drunk there.
